About

A teenager's boyfriend turns each of his promises into a threat once she tries to leave him.

When 17-year-old Angela Curson falls for Chad Bruning, he promises to love her forever. When she becomes pregnant with his child, he promises to take care of them both. When she begins to see how deceptive and controlling he is, he promises to change.

None of it holds. By the time Angela decides to leave and take their child with her, Chad has made one final promise, which is to hunt her down and kill her if she does.

Stalked at 17 (2012) is part of Christine Conradt's long-running "at 17" cycle of Lifetime television films, each a self-contained story about a teenage girl whose life is derailed by a single event.

Ending explained

The film ends with Chad taking Angela and their baby son away by force. They stop at a convenience store, and while they are inside Angela leaves a written plea for help in the bathroom. Another customer finds the message and alerts the shop's owner, who stalls Chad and trips the alarm to bring the police.

When Chad tries to leave with Angela, he pulls a gun on the owner. The owner fires first and wounds him. Chad survives the shooting and is taken into custody alive, and Angela and the baby are safe by the time the police arrive.

The "at 17" series

Christine Conradt wrote nine Lifetime television films sharing the "... at 17" title pattern, running from Dead at 17 (2008) through to Murdered at 17 (2018) and Zombie at 17 (2018). The films are not a continuing story and share no characters; what links them is a common formula, in which an otherwise ordinary teenage girl makes one decision, or suffers one piece of bad luck, that exposes her to adult danger.

Stalked at 17 is the fourth in the sequence, following Betrayed at 17 (2011).
