Josh Brolin

Josh Brolin (born 12 February 1968) is an American actor who spent two decades as a working character actor before becoming one of the most recognisable faces in blockbuster cinema. Born in Santa Monica, California, the son of the actor James Brolin, he was raised on a ranch near Paso Robles and took his first major role at seventeen as Brand Walsh in The Goonies (1985).
The years that followed were steady rather than spectacular, taking in television westerns and thrillers such as Mimic (1997) and Hollow Man (2000), until a run of 2007 releases changed his standing. No Country for Old Men (2007) gave him Llewelyn Moss, and the following year his Dan White in Milk (2008) brought an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He played George W. Bush in W. (2008), Tom Chaney in True Grit (2010) and a young Agent K in Men in Black 3 (2012), before settling into two long franchise roles: Thanos across the Marvel films from Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) through to Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Cable in Deadpool 2 (2018). He has worked repeatedly with Denis Villeneuve, as Matt Graver in Sicario (2015) and Gurney Halleck in Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), and more recently led the horror thriller Weapons (2025).
